This was my first sermon at Emmanuel.
Sermon from Sept 19th

I’ll be posting a bunch of these, I just uploaded all of my sermons for this past year.
I’m trying out different blog software. The last post about roasting coffee was posted using ecto on my mac, and it seems pretty slick. I’m writing this one on Windows Live Writer on my PC laptop. It seems good and it also has the feature of detecting your wordpress theme.
I’ll try pasting in a picture or two.
These were using the new cheapo ($10) wideangle lens that I got. It screws on to the end of my 58mm to give it a .45x multiplier. That makes it into a 26mm, which is a little more useful on the micro four thirds. Unfortunately it also makes the pictures a little fuzzy and weird.
Update: Well it’s seems pretty good. My only complaint is that I didn’t see a place to actually add a title in the WYSIWYG editor, but I can edit it in the source. The main advantage over ecto is that it allows editing, which is nice.
Super easy bokeh shapes
Jun 18
Bokeh is a Japanese word that refers to the shape of out of focus points in an image. Usually it is mostly round (because a camera’s aperture is round) and goes unnoticed. But it is possible to create other shapes by putting a paper cutout in front of the lens.
I tried following this guide which is pretty simple, but I found it a bit of a pain to get the size right for the ring to hold the cutout. The other thing I discovered that made this way easier was to use the 55mm prime lens from my old Minolta SLR (with an adapter) instead of the kit lens that came with my Lumix G2. I’m not sure about the optical science involved, but that Minolta lens had a much bigger “lens” on the front, so the cutout didn’t obscure as much of the frame.
This is what the end result looks like:

This is actually just an excuse for me to use my new camera, but this morning I documented my extremely efficient breakfast routine. The end result is bacon and eggs with spinach and some hot coffee. A delicious breakfast full of fiber, protein, and fat.
